Personnel Office
You may obtain an application from our Personnel Office located on the north side of fourth floor of City Hall, 215 Church Ave., Oshkosh, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. [Telephone: (920) 236-5110, Fax: (920) 236-5090].
Application By Mail
Applications must be printed, filled out completely and mailed, e-mailed or faxed to the City's Personnel Office in accordance with all deadline requirements. Because we require a written signature we are unable to accept any unsigned applications which may arrive through e-mail or computer connection. Please do not attach the registration information to your employment application. This form is not part of your application for employment and will stay separate from the application. It is used for Affirmative Action and other recruitment assessment efforts.

Deadlines
Application materials must be received by the Personnel Office NO LATER THAN 4:30 P.M. ON THE FINAL FILING DATE. Postmarks as proof of meeting the final date are not accepted. If you return you application materials via the U.S. Postal Service, you should use "Certified Mail - Return Receipt Requested" to provide verification of timely delivery. Do not send applications via interoffice mail.
Approved Applications
When a vacancy occurs, if you are approved, you will be notified once your name has been placed on the eligible list. The eligible list will be forwarded to the City department doing the hiring. The City of Oshkosh will contact and interview as many candidates from the list as needed to fill the vacancies.
Status of Applications
To obtain the status of an application you submitted, please call the Personnel Office at (920) 236-5110 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Other City Jobs Testing
The Personnel Office uses a variety of screening processes to evaluate your qualifications. The process may consist of an evaluation of experience and/or training listed on the application, an interview, a written test, a performance test or any combination of the above. If a test or interview is required, you will be notified of the date, time and location. Some jobs have no formal testing, only a careful review of the application materials.
Test Scores
If you took a written examination, you may obtain your test scores by contacting the Personnel Office at (920) 236-5110 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, within 30 days from the notice date on the Notice of Test Results.

General Information
- Starting salaries will be determined by the Personnel Office and the hiring department.
- Relevant part-time work will be evaluated toward meeting the required experience.
- Eligible lists may be used on a periodic basis. As such, lists may not be used for several months. Eligible lists may also be extended when appropriate.
- Examination requirements and processes may be revised.
- Experience, education, and all other information provided by an applicant orally or in writing are subject to verification.
- Copy your application if you will need it for future reference.

Citizenship
You must have the legal right to work in the U.S. or be a U.S. citizen. Persons hired must present acceptable proof of identity and the legal right to work in the United States and the authenticity of the documents must be verified before starting work.
City Medical Examination
A City medical examination which may include a drug screen and/or completion of a medical history questionnaire may be required before hire or promotion. The City of Oshkosh is committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace.
