Leak Adjustment Program
The City of Oshkosh is committed to assisting residents in detecting possible water leaks. A letter is sent to tenants and/or owners if a quarterly meter reading shows higher than average usage. You do not, however need to wait for a letter from the City to report a leak. Following are the steps required to potentially receive an adjustment to your bill due to a leak.
Step 1: Have the leak(s) repaired.
Step 2: Take a reading from the inside water meter right after the repair is completed.
Step 3: Call the Water Department at (920) 232-5325 with the following information:
- Type of leak (toilet repair/replace; kitchen faucet dripping; outside faucet leak, etc.)
- Date of repair
- Who did the repair
- Meter reading
- Date of meter reading
Other information you may find helpful
- Your account will be reviewed for an adjustment after a regular quarterly meter reading indicates that all leaks have been found and repaired.
- Only one adjustment is allowed per year for each specific leak.
- Turning off a toilet to stop a leak does not constitute a repair.
- The amount of adjustment is based on the four previous quarters of water usage history.
- A leak adjustment is calculated at a “leak” rate and is not meant to bring your bill down to “normal.”
- No credit is applied if it is calculated to be under $5 and less than 300 cubic feet.
- New water accounts qualify for an adjustment only after four full quarters of non-leak history has been documented.
- Other guidelines may apply to your specific circumstance.
