Chemical Assessment Team
What is a CAT?
A chemical assessment team (CAT) is designed to assist an agency in assessing their chemical emergency. The closest CAT team will generally respond and help the incident commander determine what actions they may take and what resources they may need from the regional team. All CATs responded with air monitoring and decontamination equipment. If a full regional team response is required they supplement the team.
Who is a CAT for the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Hazmat Team?
Our current CAT teams are Marinette Fire Department and the Brown County Hazmat Team. Oshkosh and Appleton fire departments have CAT teams as well. In the event of a chemical spill requiring the NEWRHT, assistance the closest available CAT is dispatched. In the event of a full NEWRHT response members from the combined Regional team and CATs may be called to assist.
