Oshkosh Normal School District
Located on the University of Wisconsin
- Oshkosh campus, the Oshkosh Normal School District contains four structures
associated with the former State Normal School at Oshkosh. The Oshkosh
Normal School was the third established in the state and one of the state's
largest and most innovative Normal School facilities. The three classroom
buildings in the District were constructed to respond to the tremendous growth
in public education in the early 1900s which generated a demand for additional
teachers and specialized teachers. Of additional interest are the Federal
Art Project murals inside Dempsey and Swart Halls.
