Steve Herman retired from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office in 2009 after a 30+ year career with the Sheriff's Office. Mr. Herman finished his carreer with the Sheriff's Office as the Coordinator of the Crime Prevention and Community Programs at the Sheriff's Office. Mr. Herman attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

Mr. Herman was first elected to the Common Council in April of 2010. During his time on Council he has been elected by the Council twice to be the Deputy Mayor for the city. First in 2011 and the second time in 2013. During his time as Deputy Mayor he brought forward and approved by the council a formal process to evaluate the City Manager along with a pay for performance measures for the City Manager.

During Mr. Herman’s six plus years he has served on the Board of Health, the Parking Utility Commission, and the Traffic Review Board. Mr. Herman currently serves on the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Board (CVB), the Traffic Review Board, Parking Utility Commission and the Parks Board.

Mr. Herman was born and raised in Oshkosh. He has been married to his wife Debbie for 38 years and has two children Jason and Amy and a new son-in law Jamie. I have a strong compassion for and commitment to the citizens of Oshkosh to continue the progress we have made throughout the city and I look for to continuing to improve the quality of life throughout our great city.
