Arts and Crafts

The Oshkosh Seniors Center has an art studio with open hours available for individuals to come in and work on project of choice. The center has two kilns to transform material into wonderful works of art. In addition, a variety of classes are offered throughout the year:

  • Basket Weaving (S) - Monthly on Mondays beginning at 9 a.m. from September through June. Every participant takes home a completed basket. Instructor provides hands-on instruction and all supplies needed for project.
  • Ceramics (S) - Tuesdays from 8 am until 11 am, September through July. Participants bring own green ware, brushes, and paints. Instructor provides guidance and assists with painting techniques.
  • Hands On Clay (S) - Tuesdays from 1-3:30 pm. Create a variety of hand-built clay items. Roll it, pinch it, and press it! Instructor provides guidance and materials.
  • Knitting and Crocheting (S) - Thursdays 9-11 am. In this peer lead activity, you can learn basic techniques, enhance acquired skills and/or exchange patterns. Everyone welcome, including beginners.
  • Special Projects (S) - Offered throughout the year. Some examples include wreath making, card making, Zen tangle, and stepping stones.


The OSC Woodshop, located in the North building, is a well-equipped shop available for the enjoyment of participants. We offer classes as well as open time where participants can work on a project or get assistance with a repair. The Woodshop volunteers are available to assist you while using shop equipment and offer guidance on projects.

  • Wood Carving Classes (N) - Mondays 8 am-12 Noon. Join this Instructor lead group of men and women and learn the artistry and craftsmanship of wood carving. Participants bring own tools. Some wood may be available for purchase.
  • Introduction to Woodshop (N) - Offered quarterly throughout the year. This class covers the proper use of equipment, shop etiquette, and the basics of wood working. A simple project will be completed during the class. Call 920-232-5303 for the upcoming class date.
  • Project Classes (N) - Offered monthly featuring a variety of projects including snowshoes, WI signs, cutting boards, decorative box, benches and more. Consult the Current, for upcoming projects.


Our Health and Wellness Program promotes health and independent living by connecting Oshkosh seniors, ages 50+, to services, information, and activities.

Health Promotion Activities

A Healthier You (S) - Last Monday of every month, 1-2 pm. Registered Dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator from Aurora Health presents easy health tips and recipes designed to make healthy living easier.

Mindfulness Meet-Up (S) - Tuesdays, 2:45-3:45 pm. Mindfulness, being aware of one’s physical, mental, and emotional experiences has been shown to reduce stress, improve attention, and boost immune system. Beginner to advance meditators are welcome.

Senior Nutrition Program (S) - Monday-Friday, 11:30 am., provided by Advocap. A hot, nutritious meal for any person 60 years of age or older. Reservations needed 24 hours in advance and can be made by calling 920-725-2791.

Foot Care/Finger Nail Care (S) - Enjoy a relaxing foot soak prior to receiving nail services from a RN from Valley VNA Senior Care. Services include nail trimming, filing, callus reduction, and foot/hand massage. Variety of days and times are available, by appointment only. Call 920-232-5310 to schedule an appointment.

Aging and Disability Resource Center of Winnebago County Outreach (N) - Offered on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 10-11:30 am. This service provide information on Long Term Care Options, Enrollment Counseling for those eligible for assistance, Alzheimer’s Family Support program, Memory Screenings, and more.

Elder Benefit Specialist (S) - Wednesdays, 10-11:30 am. This specialist will provide confidential assistance for an array of topics and issues to anyone 60+. Services are FREE and not based on income. This is a great resource for understanding Medicare, insurance options, and public benefit programs. Free Hearing Screenings(S) - Offered throughout the year health and wellness is important and contributes to overall healthy living. Conducted by area Audiologist who are committed to helping participants reach their fullest hearing potential possible.

Health Fairs - Offered several times throughout the year with emphasis on a variety of health topics including nutrition, brain health, sleep issues, and balance awareness.

Educational Presentations - Offered monthly on a variety of topics important to seniors and health. Medication interactions, vertigo, vision loss, essential oils, brain health, memory issues, and self-care are just a few of the topics. Drop-in Services

Free Blood Pressure Clinics - Third Monday of every month, 8:30-10:30 am (N), Last Thursday of every month, 10:30 am -12 pm (S). Service provided by RN from Valley VNA Senior Care. One in three adults has high blood pressure. If detected early, high blood pressure can be successfully managed.

Free Medication Review (S) - Last Thursday of every month, 10:30 am-11:30 pm. Meet with a Pharmacist from Hometown Pharmacy to review medications and have your questions answered.

Flu Shots (S) - October, 9 am-12 pm. Provided by Valley VNA Senior Care.
